At Torihada in Kita-Magome, Ota City, enjoy diverse chicken dishes in a spacious setting, from juicy deep-fried spring chicken and charcoal grills to rich mizutaki hot pot.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The aroma of roasted chicken and promises of succulent juices draw diners to the door of Torihada, an izakaya located in Kita-Magome. The natural starting point is the signature suage unbattered deep-fried spring chicken, available as thigh or breast, highlighting the straightforward flavor of the poultry. Beneath the delicate skin, the thigh stays plump and tender, while the breast meat remains moist; dipped lightly in salt, each bite delivers an easy, satisfying crunch.
The menu also branches into grilled options and assorted side dishes made for drinking, including crisp-skinned charcoal-grilled chicken thigh, moon-viewing tsukune meatballs served with an egg yolk for dipping, and a charcoal-grilled skewer combination of gizzard and heart offering pleasant textural contrast. Pairing plates of rich white liver or classic karaage fried chicken with an Osakikamijima lemon sour pressed with whole citrus peel, or a glass of Sapporo Black Label draft beer, keeps the table lively.
For a heartier evening, the rich mizutaki chicken hot pot, ordered for two or more diners, is the centerpiece. Chicken pieces and vegetables simmer down into an opaque white broth, merging into a nourishing soup meant to be enjoyed down to the last drop. Beyond the pot, the meal can conclude with several chicken broth staples, such as rich chicken paitan ramen, runny-egg oyako-don rice bowls, or soothing keihan rice bathed in hot broth.
Dessert is treated with equal care, featuring a smooth specialty egg pudding made from rich eggs and an indulgent late-night parfait meant for a refreshing change of pace. With its spacious interior offering comfortable counter seating alongside tatami zashiki areas, Torihada adapts easily to solo dining, family meals, or group gatherings booked with all-you-can-drink courses.
